About The Position

Harris is seeking an experienced BA System Specialist III to help deliver reliable, high-performing building automation systems. You will combine hands-on testing, controls troubleshooting, graphics development, documentation, and technical guidance to help project teams complete quality installations and improve system performance for customers. You will spend your day turning plans, sequences, and field conditions into building automation systems that operate as intended. You will inspect installations, test sensors and control components, diagnose system issues, and make the adjustments or programming changes needed to improve performance. You will also build clear system graphics, maintain accurate project documentation, and communicate technical findings with customers and project partners. As an experienced specialist, you will help others solve problems, use tools effectively, and complete work safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with mechanical systems, HVAC systems, building controls, electrical circuits, construction practices, and related engineering or technology concepts.
  • 3+ years of experience developing or authoring building automation programming logic.
  • Hands-on experience with sequence testing, point-to-point verification, system analysis, equipment inspection, maintenance, repair, and quality control.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Visio, Microsoft Office, technical documentation, and customer-facing communication.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, troubleshoot complex issues, make sound decisions, and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Tridium certification, or the ability to obtain certification within one year.
  • Driving record that meets company guidelines and ability to travel to customer and project sites using reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and use a computer for a significant portion of the workday.
  • Ability to move throughout project sites, stand for extended periods, use ladders, and walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Certification or experience with KMC, Honeywell Spyder, Allen-Bradley, Distech, or HVAC/refrigerant systems.
  • Experience teaching, training, or guiding others in technical work and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sequence testing, point-to-point verification, system adjustments, and operational checks for building automation projects.
  • Create and update system graphics, drawings, and dashboards that help customers and project teams understand controlled building systems.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC controls, repair or replace control components, and modify programming to support proper system operation.
  • Share technical knowledge by guiding team members, improving work practices, and supporting safe, high-quality project completion.
  • Review project plans, specifications, designs, and sequences of operation to understand scope and requirements.
  • Set up and use testing equipment to verify wiring, sensors, components, assemblies, and system functionality.
  • Develop building system graphics, maps, drawings, sketches, and dashboard images using CAD and visualization tools.
  • Document work performed, materials, deficiencies, punch-list items, training records, and closeout information.
  • Partner with customers and project teams to explain system issues, confirm repairs, and recommend improvements.
