About The Position

The Building Automation Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, developing, and closing sales opportunities for building automation systems (BAS), including HVAC controls, energy management solutions, and smart building technologies. This role involves working closely with contractors, facility managers, engineers, and end users to design solutions that improve building performance, comfort, and energy efficiency. The pay structure for this position is base salary with commission. Discussion for appropriate compensation package to be done during the interview process. Upon hire and onboarding, existing open customers and opportunities will be discussed and assigned as a starting point for the position. Year 0 sales goals to be set at the time of interview/hire.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC, building automation, or technical systems sales
  • Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, electrical, or BAS)
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent interpersonal (soft) skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency/Experience with CRM software and Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with operating/installing/servicing BAS platforms, Tridium Niagara platforms preferred, OEM mechanical systems acceptable
  • Tridium N4 Level 1 Certification
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency programs or sustainability initiatives such as Eversource, CT Green Bank, or RCX programs
  • Established network within local construction or facilities management market
  • Technical aptitude for IoT, smart buildings, and digital controls
  • Hard Trade License x2/x1 equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within commercial, industrial, and institutional markets (Plan/Spec)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, consulting engineers, and facility managers (Owner Direct)
  • Work with existing mechanical service customers to identify BAS solutions best suited for their buildings (Design Build)
  • Conduct site visits to assess customer needs and recommend tailored solutions
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and cost estimates
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure accurate system design and implementation
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing and handoff to operations
  • Maintain accurate sales pipeline forecasts turnover to operations and CRM records
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, technologies, and competitor offerings
  • Participate in networking events, trade shows, and industry associations
