About The Position

The Fire Watcher is responsible for monitoring work areas where hot work activities are being performed, such as welding, cutting, grinding, or torch work. The Fire Watcher helps prevent fires by identifying hazards, maintaining a safe work environment, and responding quickly to potential fire risks. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies. This is a temporary, full-time position with multiple openings available. It is a project-based assignment with the potential for extension based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to monitor work areas where hot work is being conducted.
  • Ability to watch for sparks, heat sources, and combustible materials.
  • Ability to maintain constant surveillance.
  • Ability to ensure fire extinguishers and other fire suppression equipment are readily available and operational.
  • Ability to immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards to supervisors.
  • Ability to sound alarms and initiate emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to maintain fire watch for the required period after hot work has been completed.
  • Ability to ensure work permits and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ability to keep work areas clean and free of combustible materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, maintenance personnel, and site leadership regarding safety concerns.
