About The Position

The Building and Grounds Technician is an integral member of the Facilities Team. Through direction from the Building and Grounds Superintendent, the BGT supports everyday operations by maintaining the interior and exterior of Contec's facilities located in the Spartanburg, SC (South Carolina) area. Primary responsibilities will be to electrically and mechanically support, maintain and/or repair much of the facilities safety processes, fire and environmental protection systems and processes, utilities, building equipment and infrastructure. This position will work with the maintenance personnel, contractors, and their employees to ensure that Contec’s facilities, utilities and grounds are regularly maintained, keeping in good working order to project a safe, clean, and professional appearance.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED, plus 3 or more years of experience working in facilities maintenance and housekeeping and/or experience in electro-mechanical maintenance.
Basic technological comprehension: computer literacy, cell phone capable, etc.
Basic understanding of motors and drive systems: chain, sprocket, belt, pulley bearings, etc.
Water systems – RO / DI / HVAC & Boiler Treatment
Compressed air systems - pneumatic valves & actuators, daily inspections, and safety tests
Boiler & Steam systems - daily inspections and safety test
Understanding of hydraulic systems
Basic HVAC service experience and diagnostic capabilities
Basic comprehension of HMI / SCADA systems
Understanding of AC / DC circuits and motor systems- ability to troubleshoot and repair
Ability to read and interpret wire diagrams and schematics for diagnostics and troubleshooting

Responsibilities

Performs Preventative Maintenance on Facilities support equipment and mechanical equipment through adherence to PM Program.
Daily monitoring of the building automation system (SCADA) for a proactive stance on equipment malfunctions and overview of performance of the facilities.
Regularly inspects buildings and grounds for appearance, cleanliness, and security.
Performs and documents all required inspections and assigned maintenance, and maintains records as required.
Troubleshoots moderately complex electrical and mechanical systems for malfunctions.
Assures that tools and ancillary maintenance equipment are kept in working order through periodic inspection.
Prioritization of daily workflow for optimizing efficiency.
Remediates any ice or snow accumulation on walkways, paths, or parking lots.
Participates and works within ISO 9001-2015 quality standards guidelines in accordance with Contec’s quality goals.
