About The Position

The Buildings and Grounds Staff is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of facilities and outdoor spaces. This role performs general maintenance, custodial duties, and groundskeeping, while also supporting event setup and operations. The position ensures facilities are well-maintained, functional, and ready for daily use and special events.

Requirements

Must pass a background check
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be 16 years of age or older
Ability to perform basic repairs and general maintenance tasks, including carpentry and use of hand and power tools
Ability to operate and maintain landscaping and maintenance equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers)
Basic knowledge of groundskeeping and landscaping practices
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment
Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments independently or as part of a team
Good interpersonal skills with a courteous and professional demeanor
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to quickly learn facility operations, equipment, and maintenance procedures
Must be able to drive a company vehicle
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stretching, kneeling, and climbing ladders
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Must be able to safely operate power equipment and tools
Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor weather conditions
Must be able to traverse property.

Experience in construction, maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, or custodial work preferred

Responsibilities

Perform general cleaning and custodial duties in buildings and common areas, including trash and recycling removal
Complete routine maintenance and minor repairs, such as painting, drywall repair, fixture replacement, and basic plumbing fixes
Inspect facilities and grounds to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards; report issues as needed
Assist in preparing facilities and equipment for daily operations and special events, including setup and teardown and provide support in various event roles as needed
Maintain outdoor grounds, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges and trees, raking leaves, and general landscaping
Plant, prune, and care for trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation; ensure proper watering and irrigation
Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with safety guidelines and instructions
Perform seasonal duties such as snow removal from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using shovels or powered equipment
Operate and perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment, including mowers, trimmers, snowblowers, and other machinery
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and storage spaces
Provide basic assistance and direction to visitors as needed
Operate a company vehicle to transport items across property or offsite
Represent the organization with professionalism and respect in all interactions
Perform other related duties as assigned
