About The Position

The Builder lays out, fabricates, assembles, and repairs jigs, fixtures, forms, templates, and related tooling used in manufacturing aerospace tooling. The role involves interpreting blueprints and MBD models, calculating dimensions, laying out designs, machining and finishing materials, assembling tooling components, and checking assemblies against specifications. The Builder may also prepare sketches and fabrication instructions for other workers, repair or rework tools, follow safety procedures and Quality Management Systems, and document and communicate work across shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, a certificate in Machine Tool Technology, or equivalent work experience.
Ability to use, and often own, personal industrial tools.

Nice To Haves

Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
Experience with overhead cranes.

Responsibilities

Examine blueprints and MBD models for parts requiring templates, jigs, fixtures, or other tooling.
Calculate unspecified dimensions and lay out designs on materials, establishing reference points and tooling holes with measuring instruments.
Set up and operate machines and shop equipment, including lathes, Bridgeport machines, and grinders, to cut, shape, and finish materials to specified dimensions.
Fit, align, and assemble tooling components, and measure assemblies for conformance using precision measuring and checking instruments.
Join assembly components using bolts, pins, clamps, screws, rivets, or other methods.
Repair or rework tools.
Prepare sketches and detailed instructions for fabrication or machining by other workers, as needed.
Follow safety procedures, regulations, and Quality Management Systems.
Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to maintain continuity among work shifts.
Accept ownership of organizational goals and explore opportunities to add value to work accomplishments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
