About The Position
Delaware North Gaming is hiring a full-time Buffet Junior Cook 2 to join the team at Southland Casino in West Memphis, Arkansas. The cook prepares food, operates kitchen equipment, maintains health and sanitation standards, and assists in training team members. The role involves working with supportive team members, quality ingredients, and current culinary techniques. Southland Casino Hotel, owned and operated by Delaware North, features more than 2,200 slot machines, live blackjack, craps and roulette tables, simulcast wagering, and a sportsbook. Its hotel has 300 rooms and suites and is located in West Memphis, Arkansas, a short drive from downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of previous experience in a back-of-the-house foodservice position.
- Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate and follow recipe measurements.
- No high school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more, reach up to seven feet, bend, and squat.
- Must be able to stand and walk for the entire shift in moderate to high noise levels.
- Manual ability to chop, mix, blend, and whip foods and liquids and operate kitchen equipment.
- Must be able to work in variable temperatures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food according to portion sizes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain proper food temperatures and storage, and ensure menu items are fresh and of high quality.
- Package products according to specifications.
- Keep the workstation, coolers, and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and sufficiently stocked.
- Follow waste-control guidelines and record waste on the spoilage sheet.
- Perform opening, closing, side-work duties, and end-of-day inventory.
- Assist in training team members.
- Operate kitchen equipment and uphold health codes and sanitation regulations.
