About The Position

As the Buffet Ambassador, you will be responsible for greeting and welcoming guests to the buffet room in a friendly and professional manner. Your role involves monitoring and maintaining the quality, sanitation, and food safety standards of both hot and cold buffet stations. You will serve guests with a positive attitude, prioritizing their requests and acting as a front-line ambassador for the department. A full understanding of buffet items, their contents, and recipes is essential, representing a high standard of excellence. Your attention to detail, sense of urgency, and knowledge of our Food & Beverage offerings will ensure guests feel unique and valued.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Food & Beverage is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel environment desirable.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance required.
  • Food Safety Certification or ServSafe Certification required.
  • High School diploma (or equivalent) and/or vocational training is an asset.
  • Must be in possession of identification proving authorization to work in the United States as defined in the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA).
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel environment desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Properly greet and acknowledge guests in a friendly and welcoming manner upon entering the buffet room.
  • Monitor and maintain hot and cold buffet stations, ensuring quality standards, sanitation, and food safety.
  • Serve guests with a professional, friendly, and positive attitude, prioritizing guest requests.
  • Act as a front-line ambassador for the department, possessing full knowledge of buffet items, contents, and recipes.
  • Check buffet stations for necessary equipment and set up, including ice, dishes, and utensils, ensuring all stations are operational and music is at an appropriate volume before opening.
  • Assist guests with inquiries about buffet items in an informative and helpful way.
  • Maintain and clean buffet stations and utensils, replenishing as needed.
  • Expedite all buffet food replenishments from the main kitchen to the Kea Lani buffet room, following presentation standards.
  • Ensure that temperatures of all hot and cold items in the buffet room are at the proper temperature for consumption, adhering to State of Hawaii & EHC food handling safety standards.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the kitchen team to ensure timely food item replenishment.
  • Ensure overall cleanliness and maintenance of the buffet exceeds expectations.
  • Adhere to LQA, State of Hawaii & EcoSure food handling safety standards.
  • Organize time to complete all side work according to shift demand.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of aloha spirit by providing engaging, personalized, timely, and efficient service to guests.
  • Focus attention on anticipating guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
