About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Parks is seeking a Budget Support Specialist to work in the Financial Operations Division and provide financial and administrative support for multiple recreation parks and historic sites. This position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing expenditures and revenues, supporting payroll functions, and ensuring compliance with state financial policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting park operations and fiscal accountability.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • One year of professional experience in statistical analysis, accounting, auditing, planning, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in statistical analysis, accounting, auditing, planning, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

  • Knowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficiency with financial management systems, eMARS, Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing, invoice processing, ProCard reconciliation, and other business operations for multiple recreation parks and historic sites.
  • Collect, reconcile, and process daily revenue transactions, bank deposits, ePay transfers, and eMARS financial documents.
  • Prepare and process payroll for temporary and/or seasonal employees, ensuring compliance with applicable policies and agreements.
  • Monitor budgets, expenditures, and revenues to maintain fiscal accountability and support sound financial management.
  • Review financial reports, analyze variances, and provide accurate daily and monthly reporting to management and central office staff.
  • Maintain financial records, perform account reconciliations, and ensure compliance with state financial procedures and reporting requirements.
