About The Position

Seattle University's Cornish College of the Arts is seeking a Budget and Operations Manager to oversee all budget analysis, planning, and reporting, as well as grant budgeting. This role also serves as a facilities liaison for the College, working with Facilities on maintenance and contracts for the South Lake Union campus buildings. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field plus at least 3 years’ experience in a relevant role, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Capability to oversee multiple budgets.
  • Proficiency in generating spreadsheets, records, and reports preparation.
  • Word-processing experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups effectively.
  • Strong oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to produce complex reports with clarity for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all budget analysis, planning, and reporting for the College of Arts.
  • Manage grant budgeting within the College.
  • Serve as the facilities liaison for the College, coordinating with Facilities on maintenance and contracts for South Lake Union campus buildings.
  • Develop and submit an annual operating budget and make strategic budgetary projections and recommendations in collaboration with College and University leadership.
  • Develop annual budgets based on the strategic plan, reviewing salaries, benefit rates, and non-salary budgets.
  • Project faculty FTE based on curriculum offerings, coordinate course assignments and budgets with shared faculty, and update budget projections based on enrollment changes.
  • Develop budgets for new programs and grant proposals, and prioritize funding requests.
  • Develop new funding requests for current programs and re-allocate budgets among departments as needed.
  • Review and approve expenditures, travel reimbursements, and purchase requisitions for all school budgets, including salary, operating, institutional, endowed funds, and gift accounts.
  • Oversee purchasing for departmental annual capital equipment allocations, including developing request forms and assisting with purchases.
  • Manage financial aspects of job postings, position descriptions, temporary employee hiring, and supplemental pay postings.
  • Reconcile monthly faculty and staff payroll reports for accuracy.
  • Analyze faculty salary encumbrance reports, including FTE comparison with prior years, reconciling adjunct salary pools with actual contracts, and monitoring labor charges to sabbatical, medical, and release budgets.
  • Update and reconcile commitments from gift accounts.
  • Reconcile quarterly FRX grant reports.
  • Reconcile graduate tuition splits with outside partner 501 (c) (3) organizations.
  • Monitor charges to all budgets.
  • Calculate across-the-board faculty salary increases.
  • Convert faculty merit points to salary merit increases.
  • Review faculty salary percentages based on FTE, phased retirements, and sabbaticals.
  • Update master worksheet for all full-year contracted faculty, including budget labor charges.
  • Submit adjunct faculty contract information to Faculty Services each quarter.
  • Ensure all adjunct contracts are received by the contract deadline.
  • Meet with facilities regarding SLU building safety and maintenance.
  • Review contracts for compliance with budget.
  • Review active grant proposals for budget compliance and potential cost sharing.
  • Represent the College on select university committees as directed.
