About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Budget and Financial Systems Analyst, Business Affairs. The Budget and Financial Systems Analyst provides analytical and technical expertise to support the management of UNLV’s budgeting and financial planning systems. This role conducts financial analyses and designs processes to optimize the use of systems and analytics and emerging AI tools. The analyst performs system administration duties and is a subject matter expert for Adaptive Planning and Workday. The analyst prepares, reviews, and analyzes annual and multi-year budgets for assigned divisions, colleges, or units, and performs analyses, such as trend and variance and modeling, to inform decision making. In partnership with academic and administrative leadership, the analyst provides strategic and operational support by aligning resource allocations, advising on budget planning and reconciliation practices, and identifying opportunities for process improvement, and ensuring compliance with institutional and NSHE policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field, from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • 1-3 years professional experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or systems administration, preferably in a higher education or public-sector environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of budgeting principles and financial modeling.
  • Expertise with Workday, Adaptive Planning or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and data visualization skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Workday and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently under broad direction, exercising judgment and initiative in developing and implementing financial analysis and system solutions.
