About The Position

Unitek College is seeking dedicated BSN clinical instructors on a per diem basis to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in Obstetrics or Pediatrics and no prior teaching experience is required. This role involves teaching and supervising nursing students in both classroom and clinical settings, with a focus on obstetrics. You will collaborate with faculty on course materials, evaluate student performance, and participate in curriculum development and program assessment. The position also includes orienting new faculty, utilizing adult learning principles, and maintaining current knowledge of nursing practices. Responsibilities also include ensuring clinical assignments meet learning objectives and facility requirements, submitting timely reports, and maintaining professional development to support the nursing program's mission.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid, active license issued by the State Board of Registered Nursing
  • Master of Nursing or higher degree from an accredited college or university that includes course work in nursing or education, administration.
  • At least four years’ experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
  • A year of Clinical experience within the last five years (Clinical teaching applies toward direct patient care).
  • Clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c)
  • Expertise in one of the following areas of nursing – Psychiatric, Geriatrics, Med/Surg, Pediatrics or OB-Gyn

Nice To Haves

  • OB or Pediatrics experience
  • No prior teaching experience is required

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise nursing students in classroom and clinical settings, focusing on obstetrics
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop, administer, and grade course materials and examinations
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and clinical skills
  • Participate in curriculum development, quality improvement initiatives, and program assessment
  • Orient and mentor new faculty members in both theory and clinical instruction
  • Utilize adult learning principles and integrate technology in teaching methods
  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing practices, technologies, and safety regulations in obstetrics
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committee activities, and student advising
  • Ensure clinical assignments meet both student learning objectives and facility requirements
  • Submit required reports and forms to the program director in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional development and contribute to the nursing program's mission and goals
