About The Position

Unitek College is dedicated to student success, providing comprehensive support from admission to job placement. Our experienced instructors deliver education and hands-on training, while our staff supports students throughout their programs and beyond graduation. This role involves teaching and supervising nursing students in classroom and clinical settings, with a focus on mental health. The instructor will collaborate with faculty on course development, grading, and student evaluation, while also participating in curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives. Maintaining current knowledge of nursing practices and regulations, participating in faculty meetings, and ensuring clinical assignments meet learning objectives are key aspects of the position. The instructor will also mentor new faculty and maintain professional development to contribute to the program's mission.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid, active license issued by the State Board of Registered Nursing
  • Master of Nursing or higher degree from an accredited college or university that includes coursework in nursing or education, administration. OB, Pediatrics, Psychiatry or Medical Surgical
  • At least four years’ experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care
  • A year of Clinical experience within the last five years (Clinical teaching applies toward direct patient care). Clinically competent as defined in CCR Section 1420(c)
  • Expertise in Psychiatric nursing

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise nursing students in classroom and clinical settings, focusing on mental health
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop, administer, and grade course materials and examinations
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and clinical skills
  • Participate in curriculum development, quality improvement initiatives, and program assessment
  • Orient and mentor new faculty members in both theory and clinical instruction
  • Utilize adult learning principles and integrate technology in teaching methods
  • Maintain current knowledge of nursing practices, technologies, and safety regulations in mental health
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committee activities, and student advising
  • Ensure clinical assignments meet both student learning objectives and facility requirements
  • Submit required reports and forms to the program director in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional development and contribute to the nursing program's mission and goals
