About The Position

The BSA Officer supports BSA/AML, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance programs. This role is responsible for monitoring and investigating potentially suspicious or fraudulent activity, conducting KYC/CDD/EDD reviews, preparing regulatory filings, and identifying financial crime risks. The position works closely with compliance teams and business units to ensure adherence to applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in banking, credit unions, financial services, compliance, BSA/AML, fraud, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on BSA/AML, financial crimes, fraud investigations, or compliance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of BSA/AML, KYC, CDD/EDD, OFAC, SAR, CTR, and financial crime compliance requirements.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, handle confidential information, and collaborate with internal teams, regulators, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • BSA/AML certification preferred or required depending on experience.
  • Experience with transaction monitoring, fraud detection, case management, or AML software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and investigate alerts related to suspicious activity, fraud, money laundering, and other financial crimes.
  • Review and resolve transaction monitoring and fraud alerts and document investigative findings.
  • Identify patterns, relationships, and potential fraud rings or other financial crime activity.
  • Conduct KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews, particularly for higher-risk customers or accounts.
  • Review account activity and risk ratings and perform ongoing monitoring of high-risk relationships.
  • Prepare, investigate, and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and supporting documentation.
  • Review and support Currency Transaction Report (CTR) processes and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Perform OFAC, 314(a), 314(b), and related regulatory screening and reviews.
  • Maintain BSA/AML, fraud monitoring, and case management systems and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Assist with compliance reviews, audits, regulatory examinations, and program enhancements.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff regarding BSA/AML, fraud prevention, and suspicious activity requirements.
  • Stay current on BSA/AML, OFAC, KYC, fraud, and financial crime regulations and industry practices.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
