About The Position

Responsible for investigating external fraud cases as assigned by their Supervisor/Manager as well as cases arising from independent reviews of transaction and fraud monitoring reports.

Requirements

  • 3 years experience investigating various types of fraud at a financial institution or equivalent
  • Bachelor Degree in Economic/Financial Crime Management or Criminal Justice or equivalent work experience
  • Team player with strong organizational, communication, analytical and PC skills (especially Microsoft Excel)
  • Ability to research/analyze data and recognize/evaluate patterns of customer activity.
  • Skilled investigator with understanding of types of fraud that can occur in a banking environment, but not limited to deposit fraud, internal fraud, card fraud, ACH & wire fraud, kiting and money laundering.
  • Ability to professionally present information and respond to Law Enforcement, Proscecutors and Officers of the Court.
  • Ability to multi-task, working multiple inquiries/investigations simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Complete case investigations related to external fraud such as ach, wire, counterfeit checks, kiting, elder fraud, and forgery derived from review of internal system reports, employee referrals, law enforcement referrals, etc. and file SARs when appropriate.
  • Maintain and review functionality of the Access Control System data base and work closely with various departments/branches to assist them in making sure system is working adequately.
  • Proactively review existing internal fraud monitoring reports to identify and mitigate fraud events such as counterfeit checks, kiting, elder fraud, etc.
  • Counterfeit Currency Reporting to the U.S. Secret Service: Ensure that all counterfeit currency has been identified at the branch, removed from circulation and reported to the U.S. Secret Service.
  • Other duties as assigned
