About The Position

Atlantic Federal Credit Union is seeking a BSA / Compliance Specialist who thrives in a structured, detail-driven environment. This role is ideal for someone who can confidently apply regulatory requirements to day-to-day operations, ensuring critical reporting and recordkeeping are handled accurately and consistently. In this position, you’ll support key elements of our BSA and OFAC programs. From managing CTR filings and reviewing negotiable instrument activity to clearing sanctions alerts and responding to regulatory requests, your work will help ensure the credit union remains aligned with federal requirements. You’ll collaborate across teams to strengthen processes, provide clear guidance, and support a culture of compliance.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of related experience in BSA, AML, compliance, audit, or a similar regulatory role.
  • A two-year college degree, specialized business or compliance coursework, or equivalent professional training or experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Comfortable navigating confidential matters with professionalism and tact.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and core processing systems; experience with AML software (Verafin preferred).
  • Continuous learner with the ability to adapt in a changing regulatory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support key compliance functions, including CTR reporting, negotiable instrument recordkeeping, sanctions screening, and regulatory searches
  • Review sanctions alerts, including OFAC and 314(a), to ensure timely and accurate resolution
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support compliance activities, audits, and examinations
  • Contribute to updates of procedures, training, and internal processes
  • Stay current on regulatory updates and help translate requirements into practical guidance
  • Serve as a resource to staff by answering questions and providing direction on compliance requirements.
  • Support Compliance and Audit initiatives, including ongoing program support
