About The Position

Yachad, a division of The Orthodox Union, the nation’s largest Orthodox Jewish organization‚ supports individuals with intellectual, developmental, and learning disabilities. Yachad helps these individuals participate more fully in Jewish life and the broader society by providing educational, employment, and relationship opportunities. The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products. Position Summary: The Yachad Brooklyn Program and Outreach Director is responsible for leading a defined portfolio of Yachad programming focused on younger participants, school partnerships, and overnight programming. This role provides end-to-end ownership of assigned programs, including program execution, participant support, staff supervision, and partnership development. The Program and Outreach Director works in close partnership with a Brooklyn Program Director to jointly lead city-wide programming while maintaining clear responsibility for their program portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role that includes weekday, weekend, and overnight commitments.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Experience working with individuals with disabilities strongly preferred
Experience leading youth or overnight programming
Strong relationship-building and leadership skills
Ability to manage dynamic, people-facing work
Availability for weekday, weekend, and overnight programming

Responsibilities

Create, lead, and supervise weekly after-school programming at local high schools
Plan, staff, and attend 3-4 Shabbat day programs per year, partnering with synagogues
Plan, staff, and attend 4–5 overnight Shabbatons per year, primarily serving younger participants
Provide behavioral support and participant accommodations within assigned programs
Assess participant’s fit for programming and make program-based participation decisions
Communicate clearly and consistently with the Brooklyn Program Director regarding shared participants and behavioral considerations
Support positive participant experiences across schoolyear and overnight programming
Recruit, train, and supervise hourly staff and volunteers for assigned programs and Shabbatons
Recruit, train, and supervise Shabbaton coordinators
Provide on-site leadership and supervision during programs and overnight events
Ensure staffing coverage for all assigned programming
Maintain and grow relationships with partner schools and organizations, including the following: IVDU Boys High School IVDU Girls Elementary School Yeshivah of Flatbush Barkai High School Magen David High School
Serve as the primary liaison to synagogue partners hosting youth and Shabbat programming.
Coordinate with the Yachad Summer department to support participant and staff pipelines
Recruit new youth participants into programming
Expand youth and Shabbaton programming models
Develop new partnerships with schools, synagogues, and colleges
Drive growth in both participation and creative program offerings
Partner closely with the second Brooklyn Program Director to ensure continuity across age groups
Share program updates with the Development team to support donor engagement
Collaborate with other Yachad chapters, including Manhattan/Monsey and Long Island

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience.
