The Outreach Program Manager will play a key role in supporting Banner MD Anderson Cancer Centers by building strong community and provider relationships across the Valley. This role leads strategic outreach efforts, including program development, business development activities, and community-facing events that increase awareness and access to cancer services. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong background in business development, community engagement, and event planning, along with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a dynamic environment. This position requires exceptional interpersonal communication skills, the ability to build and maintain professional partnerships, and a high degree of initiative. The role also encompasses data capture and reporting, effective project prioritization, and collaboration across internal teams to ensure the delivery of high‑quality outreach activities aligned with strategic goals. Schedule: This is a full‑time, Monday - Friday role (40 hours, exempt), with occasional evenings or weekends when outreach events or program needs come up. Banner Medical Group provides both primary and specialty care throughout the communities in which Banner Health operates. We do this in a variety of settings - from smaller group practices like our Banner Health Clinics in Colorado and Wyoming, to large multi-specialty Banner Health Centers in the metropolitan Phoenix area. We currently have more than 1,000 physicians and more than 3,500 total employees in our group and are seeking others to enhance our ability to deliver our nonprofit mission of providing excellent patient care. POSITION SUMMARY This position plays a vital role in program development and is responsible for the promotion of medical services and building trust-based relationships with key referral sources to expand program visibility and impact. The position participates in community outreach and educational programs for community members as well as collaborates with external partners including representation on community committees and professional organizations. This position is responsible for provider engagement initiatives along with budgeting for specific events and collaboration with internal partners.

Requirements

  • Must have knowledge and skills typically attained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Nursing or other health-related field.
  • Skill level typically achieved through two to three years in program development, event planning, data capture and reporting, and cross-functional collaboration skills experience.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills including but not limited to clear and concise direct communication and building trusting relationships and can resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Must have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage time independently and prioritize multiple projects that deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Proficient in commonly used office software.
  • This position may require extensive travel and may require working outside of business hours.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of program development, event planning, capturing data, reporting and cross-functional collaboration skills experience.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems and referral dynamics, a proven track record of driving results through cross-functional teamwork, proficient in data tracking and reporting tools, and translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes medical services by building long-term, trust-based relationships with key referral sources. Identifies target medical offices, conducts regular on-site visits, and provides educational materials to drive program awareness and referral growth. Serves as a liaison between physicians and external providers, ensuring smooth communication, coordination of correct scheduling, troubleshooting and high-quality service throughout the referral process; and documents outreach efforts.
  • Identifies and develops educational opportunities for community members, businesses and wellness groups. Actively participates in the events to increase program awareness. Manages development and updates of educational and marketing materials, including presentations. Oversees promotional item inventory, marketing materials, and event contracts, ensuring proper review and execution.
  • Manages, tracks and reports out referral volume to highlight program expansion.
  • Collaborates with external partners and actively participates in committees and task forces. Serves as an ambassador for the organization. Coordinates special projects as needed.
  • Coordinates and implements provider engagement initiatives, including continuing medical education events for providers and educational programs for clinical staff.
  • Collaborates with marketing and business development teams to identify and support the cultivation of community partnerships to foster program growth. Engages internal stakeholders including volunteers, physicians and staff, and administrative personnel to promote and advance program initiatives.
  • Participates in budgeting activities related to event-specific initiatives, ensuring financial planning aligns with program goals and resource availability under the direction of department leadership. Accurately logs expenses for designated events in accordance with organizational guidelines.
