About The Position

Aries is hiring a Brokerage Operations Manager to lead and improve brokerage operations at an independent broker-dealer that clears through Apex Clearing. The role oversees the operations team, daily controls, reconciliations, and exception management, and serves as a registered principal over operations. The manager also owns the day-to-day relationship with Apex Clearing and ensures operational issues are resolved quickly. The position works closely with Compliance, Risk, Trading, Product, Engineering, advisors, and clearing and technology partners to investigate problems and implement lasting solutions. The role owns brokerage operations end-to-end, serves as the final escalation point for operational issues, and reports to the Head of Brokerage. It has direct reports and may expand in scope as Aries grows, including controls, automation, and team leadership. The position is remote in the United States and requires coverage during U.S. market hours. Compensation information in the posting is inconsistent: the opening lists a base salary of $125,000 to $155,000, while the Pay & Benefits section lists $115,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, licensing, and location. Bonus, health, and PTO details are available; Aries pays for licensing and continuing education.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in brokerage, clearing, or broker-dealer operations.
At least 2 years in a people management or operations lead role.
FINRA Series 24, or willingness to obtain it within 90 days of hire; the posting also states Series 24 is required due to the supervisory aspect of the role.
Series 7 and SIE are required.
Experience with a fully disclosed clearing firm.
Strong understanding of the U.S. securities trade lifecycle, cashiering, ACATS, margin, and corporate actions.
Solid experience with equities and listed options.
Experience working through position, cash, trade, settlement, or reconciliation breaks.
Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets and handling large data sets across several systems.
Strong sense of urgency and follow-through in resolving issues.
A problem-solving approach focused on improving processes rather than working around problems.
Ability to provide coverage during U.S. market hours.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Apex Clearing.
Series 4, Options Principal, or Series 9/10.
Experience at an independent broker-dealer or fintech broker-dealer.
SQL skills.
Experience with APIs, SFTP, CSV, JSON, FIX, or similar financial data formats.
Experience building or automating reconciliations, dashboards, or exception monitoring.
Familiarity with CAT/CAIS, Rule 605/606, or similar broker-dealer regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

Lead, hire, and coach the operations team; establish clear standards and accountability.
Serve as the registered principal over operations and maintain updated Written Supervisory Procedures.
Oversee daily reconciliations, operational controls, and exception reviews.
Act as the main contact for Apex Clearing and ensure breaks, rejects, and service issues are resolved.
Investigate and clear position, cash, trade, settlement, margin, and buying power breaks.
Manage equities and listed options throughout the trade lifecycle, including exercises, assignments, and corrections.
Oversee money movement, ACATS, new accounts, and account maintenance.
Monitor margin calls, corporate actions, and other operational exceptions.
Identify recurring problems and implement permanent fixes rather than relying on workarounds.
Work with Product and Engineering to automate manual tasks and improve dashboards and exception monitoring.
Help Compliance with FINRA and SEC exams, inquiries, and regulatory reporting.
Support advisor onboarding and book transitions as the company grows.
Provide coverage during U.S. market hours.
