About The Position

Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based media organization and home to Ohio’s largest NPR, PBS, and classical radio stations, serves 22 counties in Northeast Ohio with local news and information. The Broadcast Technician is a master control professional responsible for ensuring programming is broadcast on schedule and meets high quality standards. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the role manages automation systems, operates video servers, and oversees transmission workflows to support reliable broadcast operations. Typical duties include monitoring automation for multi-channel television operations, carrying out and monitoring EAS procedures in compliance with FCC regulations, and operating and logging transmitter activities.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with EAS SAGE logging, transmitter logging, and video/audio signal processing.

Nice To Haves

• An Associate’s degree or formal technical training in video production, engineering technology, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in a Master Control environment; equivalent experience in related fields and education will be considered.
• Experience with Crispin automation systems, Harmonic play servers, Ross switchers, Telestream, and file-based workflows.
