About The Position

The Nicholson School of Communication and Media is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Broadcast Engineer to join our team. As the functional technical lead for the NSCM Broadcast Studio and Media Production Management facility, the Broadcast Engineer supports student learning by providing critical engineering/IT support for our broadcast facility, media labs, classrooms, and other production spaces. This role offers the unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, student-centered learning environment working closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure a seamless integration of technology in both instructional and production settings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Valid Class E driver’s license.
  • Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly, under tight production deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of professional broadcast systems and equipment, including Ross Switchers, Wheatstone Audio Mixers, and Ross Tria.
  • Five years or more of experience working as an engineer in a professional broadcast, studio, academic, or remote production environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, studio engineering, or broadcast technology.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing studio equipment (both hardware and software).
  • Experience with preventive maintenance strategies to ensure smooth studio operations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and management of all studio equipment, including production switchers, editing workstations, audio mixers, cameras, lighting grids, portable field equipment, and server systems.
  • Problem-solving to resolve complex video and audio issues, designing and implementing upgrades to existing equipment, performing repairs on complex electronic devices, maintaining inventory, and assisting with the purchase of new technologies to enhance the student experience.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Operations and Facilities to ensure the highest quality of technical support and service for all NSCM students and faculty.
