About The Position

The Broadcast Media Student Technician is an intermediate-level, field-specific student employment position supporting Broadcast Media Technology with campus audiovisual operations, Media Lab support, and television facility operations. This role is designed to allow students to apply their Broadcast Media Technology coursework in a professional campus environment, develop hands-on audiovisual and broadcast-media equipment experience, build technical-support, equipment-care, troubleshooting, and lab-operations skills, and strengthen communication, teamwork, reliability, and professional accountability.

Requirements

  • Federal Work-Study Eligibility
  • Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements.
  • Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work.
  • Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor.
  • Currently enrolled RCC student eligible for Federal Work-Study.
  • Broadcast Media Technology major.
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • Relevant coursework or familiarity with broadcast media, audiovisual technology, media production, or related equipment.
  • Reliable, punctual, professional, and able to follow technical instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, label, inventory, and prepare approved media equipment and supplies for on-campus instructional use.
  • Assist with basic studio, classroom, and equipment setup and breakdown under faculty/staff direction.
  • Maintain equipment checkout, return, and condition records.
  • Perform basic, supervisor-approved equipment checks and report technical problems to professional staff.
  • Organize media files, production forms, and instructional materials as assigned.
