The Broadcast Field Engineer adjusts, tests, configures, and commissions broadcast and IT systems, bringing projects to completion and ensuring quality. The role requires understanding system design and demonstrating installation and commissioning techniques. The engineer must be able to break large broadcast systems into subsystems and have a solid technical understanding of video, audio, control, and data networking. The position works closely with the Field Manager, Engineers, Lead Installers, and Project Managers, providing recommendations on installation standards, technologies, personnel, job specifics, and implementation. Upon completion of systems, the engineer provides redlined drawings and commissioning reports. In rare cases, the engineer may act as Project Foreman. The engineer works with design engineering during initial system design, understands end-user functional requirements, attends drawing reviews, and identifies concerns with system design, equipment integration, and end-user functionality. The role includes coordinating task lists, testing cabling and signals, programming broadcast equipment at the fabrication facility and client sites, communicating project status and issues, completing punch-list items and commissioning reports, and ensuring deliverables meet safety and quality requirements. The engineer also trains employees and clients, supports employees and clients technically, works with subcontractors and third parties, identifies integration-process inefficiencies, and may perform other assigned duties. The position is listed as full-time, remote in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, with a day shift and salary range of $70,000–$100,000 per year. Travel is up to 70%, sometimes on short notice and for as long as two weeks at a time. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. A valid driver’s license and successful background check are required.
