About The Position

This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on television broadcast equipment, computers, networks, and facility systems. The position involves maintaining studios, control rooms, technical spaces, equipment rooms, and general facility infrastructure. The engineer will support various broadcast systems including cameras, audio/video, routers, servers, RF, control systems, and broadcast networks. Additionally, the role includes performing general facility repairs, installations, equipment moves, cabling, mounting, and modifications, as well as troubleshooting basic electrical, mechanical, HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and building-related issues. The engineer will identify problems, develop solutions, and assist with construction projects, upgrades, installations, and expansions. A key aspect of the role is responding quickly to technical or facility issues that could impact broadcast operations and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders. Documentation of equipment issues, repairs, and maintenance is also required, along with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment. The position requires a willingness to perform both broadcast engineering and general facility maintenance duties.

Requirements

5+ years of broadcast engineering, technical facilities, or equivalent hands-on experience required.
Working knowledge of television broadcast equipment and production systems.
Understanding of broadcast audio, video, control systems, networking, RF, and IT infrastructure.
Strong understanding of electrical, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and building systems.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems and determine practical solutions.
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and other equipment necessary to perform repairs and installations.
Strong general mechanical aptitude and a natural “figure it out and fix it” approach.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure, 24/7 news environment.
Ability to work effectively with engineers, producers, operations personnel, vendors, contractors, and building management.
Solutions-based, team player with strong communication skills.
Must be willing to perform both broadcast engineering and general facility maintenance duties.
Able to lift 50 lbs.

Document equipment issues, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system anomalies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe technical and facility environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
