About The Position

KSDK-TV Saint Louis, the TEGNA NBC affiliate in Saint Louis, is seeking a Broadcast Director to direct daily newscasts and other local programs using production automation and manual switching operations. The director works closely with news, production, and technical teams to create fast-paced, compelling, and comprehensive programming. The role calls for forward-thinking production ideas, strong technical knowledge, and high-level quality control, along with familiarity with studio operations including floor directing, camera operation, teleprompter, graphics creation, audio, lighting, non-linear editing, content management systems, and master control systems.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Communications, TV Production, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be substituted.
• Experience with production automation, video switchers, newsroom computer systems, video servers, and graphics systems is preferred, with three years noted as preferred.
• Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively to breaking news and unexpected events.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team with multiple departments.
• Familiarity with studio operations including floor directing, camera operation, teleprompter, graphics creation, audio, lighting, non-linear editing, content management systems, and master control systems.
• Flexible scheduling is required, including weekends, and potentially early mornings, nights, or holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with ENPS, Chyron, and BitCentral systems.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily live newscasts and recorded shows using automation and manual switching.
• Oversee the overall look of newscasts and on-air programming.
• Identify and correct potential problems before they reach air.
• Troubleshoot technical systems when required.
• Use non-linear editing and content management systems to create programming, commercial, and digital content.
• Perform other production department duties as assigned.
