Broadband Network Technician I
About The Position
This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on maintaining and repairing underground coax and fiber infrastructure. The technician will work outdoors daily using ladders, and hand tools to restore service, perform preventative maintenance, and support network reliability. The Broadband Network Technician I is responsible for detecting, troubleshooting and resolving system outages for data, video, and telephone. This role will be responsible for emergency restoration of coax, Fiber, underground cable, maintenance of power supply, leakage, and splicing. The BNT I is required to maintain documentation as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in telecom field work, cabling, construction, or utilities (coax, fiber, or electrical)
- Maintain satisfactory driving record and have a valid driver's license

Responsibilities
- Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and/or underground capacities related to transmission levels, signal losses and off-air interference.
- Prepare and perform emergency underground coaxial cable restoration due to variables such as cable breaks and/or damage.
- Perform preventative maintenance (power supply, actives) in the form of testing, balancing, alignment and adjustments of components or equipment
- Monitor, record and repair cable leakage, complying with applicable regulations
- Observe and assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities
- Complete and distribute required documentation, such as work orders and daily logs
- Install, replace, and repair coaxial and fiber optic cabling, including aerial and buried plant
- Operate ladders, and field equipment to include test meters, fusion splicers, and other necessary hand tools
- Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation
