As a Broadband Network Analyst at the City of Pharr, you will work under the general supervision of the Fiber Manager to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within our fiber optic and wireless networks. Your role involves the operation and maintenance of both public and private FTTH systems, including the design and installation of cable lines underground and on street poles. You'll engage in tasks such as cutting, splicing, terminating, and documenting fiber optic cables while locating problem areas and executing repairs. Additionally, you will provide vital technical support to end-users, ensuring seamless operation of networking systems and video surveillance equipment. You’ll also train users in various software applications, diagnose problems effectively, and implement solutions. This hands-on position is ideal for someone looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Requirements

  • Solid foundation in the practices and principles of fiber to the home/premise networks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of implementing, managing, and monitoring local and wide area networks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of implementing, managing, and monitoring wireless networks.
  • Expertise in network diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with broadband ISP networks.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Customer-service orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Skill in using job-related networking equipment.
  • Skill in using job-related diagnostic equipment.
  • Must pass a thorough criminal background check.
