About The Position

Openwork is seeking a dependable and experienced Bridge Shop Helper to join a manufacturing team in Northeast Houston. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working with tools, staying active, and contributing to a productive industrial environment. The role will primarily involve drilling holes in blocks, painting with brushes and rollers, material handling, and general shop support. Forklift operation will make up approximately 3–4% of the shift. We're looking for someone who brings a strong work ethic, safety-first mindset, and reliable and consistent attendance.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, construction, industrial shop, or similar hands-on experience required.
  • Painting experience using brushes and rollers required.
  • Forklift operating experience required.
  • Experience using drills, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Basic math and measuring skills.
  • Ability to follow work orders, instructions, and safety procedures.
  • Comfortable performing physical work and handling heavy materials.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to meet all PPE, hygiene, and respirator requirements.
  • Must remain clean-shaven to maintain a proper respirator seal.
  • Showering at the end of each shift is mandatory.
  • Work involves lead-based materials.
  • Periodic blood testing is required.

Responsibilities

  • Drill holes in blocks using drills and other hand or power tools.
  • Paint blocks using brushes and rollers.
  • Move, stage, and organize materials throughout the work area.
  • Operate a forklift approximately 3–4% of the shift.
  • Read and follow work orders and production instructions.
  • Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy.
  • Assist with material handling and general production duties.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety, PPE, and production procedures.
