About The Position

This position is responsible for producing and modifying design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. In consultation with the project manager, the engineer performs research, development, calculations, design, and project delivery, applying engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria to projects of varying size and complexity. The role uses technical knowledge to resolve design issues through problem-solving, client interactions, and completion of tasks according to the project schedule. It develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software. The engineer may mentor, train, and review junior engineering staff and provide constructive feedback, contributing to successful delivery of a diverse range of projects for HNTB clients. The engineer plans and distributes discipline-specific work, supports schedule and budget adherence, helps develop proposals and project scopes, and oversees the completeness and accuracy of the team's technical work. The role guides and mentors the team toward project objectives, coordinates technical work with client counterparts and teaming partners at staff level, and collaborates with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience.
Understand the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.
Coordinate work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines.
Prepare high-quality deliverables on time and within budget and scope.

8 years of relevant experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
FDOT project experience.

Responsibilities

Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects.
Perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery in consultation with the project manager.
Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria to projects of varying size and complexity.
Address design-related issues through problem-solving, client interactions, and work completed to meet project schedules.
Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software.
May mentor, train, and review the work of junior engineering staff and provide constructive feedback.
Plan and distribute discipline-specific work and support adherence to project schedules and budgets.
Assist with marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Assist with development of project scopes of work and levels of effort within the discipline.
Oversee the completeness and accuracy of the project team's work within the technical discipline.
Guide and mentor the team toward overall project objectives.
Coordinate technical aspects of discipline work with client counterparts and teaming partners at staff level.
Work closely with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
