Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in bridges or structures, from an ABET-accredited university
  • 4+ years of experience in bridge inspection, design, structural analysis, or related transportation infrastructure work
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina, or ability to obtain licensure within two months of employment
  • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software, such as: Leap Bridge, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, MiDAS, LPile, MathCAD, BrR, FB Multipier
  • Working knowledge of applicable design codes, including AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation, SCDOT Bridge Design Manual, SCDOT Seismic Design Specifications
  • Experience with structural analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete structures

Responsibilities

  • Perform bridge inspections, compile thorough inspection reports, and complete load rating assessments for both simple and complex bridge structures.
  • Perform structural analyses and prepare comprehensive design calculations for bridges and related transportation infrastructure.
  • Develop detailed contract drawings, technical specifications, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and study reports.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary design teams to support project delivery on schedule and within budget.
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and lead assigned task orders efficiently and effectively.
