Bridge Into Internships 2026
About The Position
Bridge Into Internships is an immersive 7-week educational experience for students to develop their professional and STEM skills through a pre-internship in preparation for a future STEM internship. Program elements include technical and professional development workshops in order to increase skills and make participants more competitive applicant for future internship, postsecondary and professional opportunities as well as enrichment activities and tours designed to enhance their awareness of the role of the national lab complex. Participants will work in collaboration with a scientist mentor on a predetermined research project aligned with the mentor’s research area and designed with the growth of the student in mind.
Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years of age at the start of the program.
- Interested in a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
- Be a Class of 2026 graduate from a Chicagoland high school.
- Enrolled to attend a two year or four year college full-time in 2026.
- Applicants must have interviewed with Institutional Partnerships staff and received an invitation to participate in the internship.
