Requirements

  • 0–3 years of related experience in inspection, construction, maintenance, or field services preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability and willingness to perform physically demanding field work in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in both field and office environments.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
  • Ability to meet NBIS Team Leader qualification criteria over time through training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist bridge inspection teams during routine, in-depth, non-redundant steel tension member, and specialty inspections in accordance with NBIS and PennDOT requirements.
  • Document observed conditions, take measurements, capture photographs, and record inspection notes under the direction of the Team Leader.
  • Assist with inspections of bridges, culverts, noise walls, retaining walls, sign structures, tunnels, and other transportation assets.
  • Support inspection operations by handling equipment, staging access gear, and assisting with traffic control setups as directed.
  • Participate in field work that may include working at heights, climbing, carrying ladders and inspection equipment, cleaning bridge elements with hand tools, and working in confined spaces.
  • Assist with preparation of inspection documentation, sketches, and supporting materials for inspection reports.
  • Maintain daily field notes and assist with organizing inspection data for report development.
  • Follow all safety procedures and participate in required safety training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of bridge inspection and asset management services.
