This opportunity entails being responsible for assisting in the inspection of highway bridges throughout Pennsylvania, creating reports, and performing load rating analyses. This role will consist of field work approximately 70% of the time which may fluctuate week to week. May assist with engineering design or drafting tasks. Applicants shall have completed the NHI Bridge Inspection Course (130055). As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience
  • Work at field site to complete bridge inspections primarily in central Pennsylvania; however, work may extend to any location within PA.
  • Experience with inspecting highway bridges.
  • Exhibits proficiency in applying engineering, geometric and algebraic principles in your work.
  • Displays proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and MicroStation and/or AutoCad or other software as required for job assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • NHI Safety Inspection of Bridges (130055)
  • Knowledgeable in PennDOT Pub 238, Pub 100A, and BMS3
  • Experience with load rating analyses.
  • Knowledgeable in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD

Responsibilities

  • Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Responsible for preparation and/or modification for select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
  • Develops project quantities and assists with development of cost estimates.
  • Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
  • Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks and duties including but not limited to research, data collection, field investigations, development, and design of projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
