The overall function of this position is to perform in-depth inspections of all on-system and off-system bridges in District 07. This position is located in District 07 Unit 051, Bridge Inspection Unit of the Department of Transportation and Development.

Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Takes lead in working with local government officials and other public agencies to facilitate bridge inspections and the closing and/or opening of bridges.
• Prepares the appropriate forms and reports regarding each bridge inspected and incorporates these into files on each bridge to include comprehensive measurements, photographs, sketches and documentation of bridge deficiencies and conditions.
• Reviews deficiencies and conditions of off-system bridges with bridge owners.
• Conducts in-depth inspections of new and existing on-system and off-system bridges in an assigned area.
