About The Position

Ardmore Roderick is seeking a Bridge Inspector - Team Leader to join its infrastructure solutions team. The role is based at the client’s office in Lisle, Illinois, and combines remote, in-office, and field work. As part of the Illinois Tollway’s General Engineering Consultant staff, the Team Leader will inspect and report on bridges, retaining walls, and sign structures, and provide technical and structural inspection services.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited U.S. institution.
IDOT-approved Team Leader or Program Manager.
FHWA-approved comprehensive training course, such as NHI 130055 or 130056.
Basic understanding of structural engineering principles.
At least 5 years of experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Familiarity with tablet technology for project documentation.
Team-oriented mindset and proficient written and verbal communication skills.
Good to great organizational skills.

Additional inspection training, such as element-level and fracture-critical training.

Responsibilities

Lead inspection teams in providing technical and structural inspection services in accordance with ISTHA, IDOT, and AASHTO standards.
Oversee structural inspections of Illinois Tollway assets, including bridges, retaining walls, noise walls, sightscreen walls, and overhead sign structures.
Help develop basic repair scopes and learn to use the Illinois Tollway’s cloud-based Asset Management System.
Assist with basic design reviews, bridge calculations, and updates to the Illinois Tollway structural inspection manuals.
Assist in preparing annual maintenance section reports and insurance reports.
