About The Position

Michael Baker International is hiring a Bridge Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in its Boston, Massachusetts office. The internship is open to applicants seeking experience in CAD design, bridge engineering, and bridge inspection. The intern will work with experienced engineers and assist with civil engineering projects, including preparing preliminary and final drawings, layouts, and designs using computer-aided design software. The role also supports transportation and site engineering development projects through design and planning tasks, technical documentation, calculations, and site visits.

Requirements

• Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similar program.
• Focus in transportation or structures (bridge).
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications, Excel, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and MicroStation.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Proficiency in organizing and presenting documentation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong self-initiative and desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist professionals with design and development of plans, specifications, and estimates for civil transportation and/or site engineering development projects using AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation, and ArcGIS.
• Assist with technical tasks such as studies, design analysis, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Complete simple to moderate calculations, such as quantity calculations.
• Conduct site visits.
• Assist with preparing preliminary and final drawings, layouts, and designs using CAD software, including Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Midas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
