About The Position

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Raleigh on October 28-29, 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2027. The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Raleigh office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is seeking an Bridge Engineer Intern to join our AECOM Transportation Department in either our Raleigh, NC, Greenville, SC or Nashville, TN office. Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study. This position is expected to begin in May 2027.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering with a Structures concentration or in another related engineering field and must have completed at least one year of study.
  • Candidates who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
  • Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

  • Flexibility to occasionally travel (nights) and short-notice work assignments depending on bridge inspection needs.

  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • Previous experience with Internships.
  • Software Experience: AutoCad, Microstation, MS Office and Structural Analysis Software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs specific portions of a broader assignment under the mentoring of an experienced structural engineer.
  • Prepares designs and calculations for a variety of materials, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry.
  • Evaluate, select, apply standard engineering techniques, and procedures to design structural building systems and members in buildings utilizing hand calculations and the latest structural engineering software.
  • Coordinate with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.
  • Perform construction administration duties, including shop drawing review and RFI response preparation.
