Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 4+ years of bridge inspection experience
- Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain within one year)
- Completion of FHWA-NHI-130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges)
- NBIS Team Leader qualification in accordance with 23 CFR 650
- Experience performing inspections on a variety of bridge types
- Familiarity with Bridge Inspection Management Systems
- Solid understanding of structural analysis and design principles
- Experience with Bentley tools (MicroStation, ProjectWise, OpenBridge Modeler)
Nice To Haves
- Additional FHWA/NHI certifications (Fracture Critical, Movable Bridges, Tunnels, etc.)
- SPRAT Rope Access Certification
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform bridge inspections in accordance with NBIS standards and safety best practices
- Conduct load ratings using AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) software
- Contribute to the design and rehabilitation of bridges—supporting calculations, plans, specs, and cost estimates
- Prepare and support bridge rating reports and technical documentation
- Manage your work effectively by helping monitor project budgets and schedules
- Work across a variety of structures and environments, gaining well-rounded, hands-on experience
- Operate both independently and collaboratively with a team of experienced engineers and inspectors
- Maintain a strong focus on safety in both field and office settings
- Travel to project sites and perform fieldwork year-round, including in unique and challenging conditions
