About The Position

In this role, you will design and review a variety of transportation and civil structures, including highway and pedestrian bridges, culverts, retaining walls, overhead sign structures, and drainage-related infrastructure. You will perform structural analyses, prepare design calculations and construction documents, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and client requirements. This position offers exposure to a diverse range of clients and projects, providing opportunities to work through all phases of project delivery, from planning and preliminary design to final design and construction support. Through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, you will strengthen your technical expertise while further developing your project management, coordination, and client service skills.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience in civil/structural engineering with a focus on bridge design.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE).
  • Demonstrated experience with bridge design principles, methodologies, and current AASHTO LRFD standards.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete and steel design.
  • Proficiency with required software, including: Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or other MicroStation‑based platforms, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support structural and bridge design tasks as part of an integrated engineering team
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior staff, including EITs
  • Perform structural/bridge analysis, engineering calculations, load‑rating evaluations, and design checks
  • Develop and review structural/bridge plans, specifications, estimates, and supporting documents
  • Conduct conceptual engineering studies and provide recommendations
  • Support and lead preliminary engineering and final design efforts
  • Prepare high‑quality technical reports and design summaries
  • Coordinate with internal project managers, coworkers, local governments, and TxDOT
  • Participate in client meetings, project presentations, and proposal efforts as needed
