Their operations include a wide range of services such as clearing, grading, storm drainage, concrete paving, culverts, bridges, and asphalt paving. Blythe Development prides itself on self-performing 80% of site groundwork, ensuring greater control over projects. A Bridge Carpenter at Blythe Development performs strenuous physical labor on highway and heavy construction projects. This role involves operating various tools and equipment, preparing sites, digging trenches, setting forms for structures, and maintaining a clean and safe job site. Adherence to safety and incident reporting procedures is crucial, and any issues must be reported to a Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of proper use of lifts, hand and power tools, materials, and supplies used in highway and heavy construction work in a safe manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage, or loss of life.
  • Ability to work at heights with the use of mobile equipment and proper PPE.
  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks according to the work schedule.
  • Ability and willingness to communicate, follow instructions, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Regularly works near moving machinery/tools which requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
  • Must be able to move quickly and have excellent stamina.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects (over 50 lbs.).
  • Must be able to use legs, hips, shoulders, abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks involving strenuous physical labor on highway and heavy construction projects.
  • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and lifts.
  • Clean and prepare sites.
  • Dig trenches.
  • Set braces and forms for structures.
  • Clean up rubble, debris, and remove waste materials.
  • Maintain a clean and secure job site to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Bring any problems to the attention of a Supervisor.
