Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in bridge, structural, roadway, or related infrastructure drafting and design
  • Proficiency in OpenBridge Designer, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and/or Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Strong understanding of CAD drafting techniques, standards, and construction plan preparation
  • Experience producing full construction plan sets, including drawing sequence, detailing, and presentation
  • Familiarity with TxDOT bridge standards and detailing requirements
  • Associate degree from a technical or four-year institution; degree or certification in CAD or related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and review work of junior team members

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of grading, drainage, and utility plan design preferred
  • Experience with GEOPAK preferred
  • GIS experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex and non-routine CAD design assignments with minimal supervision, following direction from Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Develop bridge, roadway, and related infrastructure plans using OpenBridge Designer, OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Create plan, profile, title, and detail sheets and assemble complete final construction plan sets
  • Provide drafting and minor design support for bridge and roadway projects, including 3D model development
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and minor mathematical calculations
  • Coordinate work assignments with engineers, project teams, and supervisors to meet project schedules
  • Perform quality control reviews of design plans and review work completed by junior CAD staff prior to submission
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, including TxDOT Bridge Detailing Manual and TxDOT Bridge Standards
  • Support grading, drainage, and utility plan preparation as required by project scope
  • Mentor and assist junior-level CAD staff and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned and assist other teams as needed
