We are seeking a skilled Bricklayer to join our masonry team on upcoming residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This position is tailored for a craftsperson who holds or is looking to finish their requirements to achieve their Red Seal Endorsement (RSE). Masonry is one of Canada’s most enduring trades, and we pride ourselves on building structures that last for generations. Whether you are a seasoned Journeyperson or a senior apprentice nearing the end of your hours, you will be expected to execute high-quality work that adheres to the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS) and local building codes. In alignment with the national standards for the Bricklayer trade, your duties include: Preparation & Layout: Interpret blueprints and sketches to determine specifications. Calculate materials required and lay out the work using lines, plumb bobs, and levels to ensure perfect alignment. Structural Masonry: Lay bricks, stone, and concrete blocks to build walls, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, and other structures. Veneer & Finishes: Install exterior masonry veneers and ornamental masonry for aesthetic and protective purposes. Refractory & Restoration: (As required) Install firebrick in industrial high-heat environments or perform restoration on historic masonry, including tuck-pointing and replacing damaged units. Technical Mortar Work: Mix specified proportions of mortar, sand, and additives. Ensure the correct consistency for the specific environmental conditions and material types. Safety & Scaffolding: Erect and work from scaffolding safely. Ensure compliance with provincial OH&S regulations, including proper silica dust control and heavy lifting protocols. Mentorship: If certified, provide guidance to junior apprentices. If finishing requirements, maintain your logbook and work with our Journeypersons to master complex arches, columns, and decorative bonds.
