About The Position

Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Breeding Support Specialist to join their team in Olivia, Minnesota. This role provides hands-on, day-to-day support for breeding and research activities in support of Corteva’s crop improvement programs. The Breeding Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting breeding and field research projects through activities such as experiment preparation, data collection, seed processing, and inventory management. The successful candidate will be part of a team building the future of agriculture—advancing innovation through science and technology to improve the lives of people around the world. Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED minimum required
  • Prior experience in agriculture, plant breeding, field research, seed operations, or a related technical or scientific environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow written protocols and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours during critical seasonal periods such as planting and harvest.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor field environments and indoor processing or warehouse settings for extended periods of time.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage data, samples, and inventory accurately.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and the ability to learn new data collection and inventory systems.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in all work activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred) with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and seasonal labor.

Responsibilities

  • Support breeding and field research projects through experiment setup, execution, and seasonal activities.
  • Collect phenotypic and agronomic data according to established protocols across multiple crops.
  • Follow specific procedures to accurately collect, organize, analyze, and distribute large volumes of research data.
  • Assist with experiment planning, field layout preparation, location mapping, and seed preparation activities prior to planting.
  • Provide seed processing support, including seed cleaning, sorting, labeling, packaging, and preparation for planting or shipment.
  • Support seed inventory management, ensuring accurate tracking, storage, reconciliation, and documentation of seed materials.
  • Assist with plot maintenance activities such as monitoring crop growth, weeds, disease, and insect pressure.
  • Support pollination, hand harvest, and harvest activities during critical seasonal periods.
  • Assist with seed shipments by following proper handling, documentation, and shipping protocols to meet timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support compliance with company policies, research protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Use technology and modern software tools to support breeding and research operations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, project leads, and supervisors to ensure alignment on priorities and timelines.
  • Supervise or assist with training of seasonal staff, contract labor, or interns while promoting a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Participate in research center projects and general operational support as needed during peak work periods.
