The Breeder Manager inspects farms for compliance with contract and cooperative agreement standards, advises farmers on development programs to assist in producing quality poultry products, and conducts safety meetings. This role coordinates and/or handles the movement of pullets, performs field vaccinations and/or administers medications, and weighs, handles, and fleshes pullets, hens, and males. The position also tracks and analyzes hen productivity, and may collect and transport eggs and track hatchability. Additionally, the Breeder Manager may schedule and train other employees. Decisions made in this role can impact the department, its goals, or the work area/unit. The work requires moderate analytic ability in applying guidelines, policies, and procedures, and in gathering and interpreting data for moderately complex problems. Problem-solving involves gathering, compiling, and sorting information, typically at the work unit or department level. The position operates under limited supervision with periods of autonomy and general review, with the latitude to select techniques and processes within defined objectives. Communication involves weekly internal contact with professional or supervisor-level positions for routine information exchange and simple service activities. Daily external communication with clerical or technical-level positions requires moderate tact and cooperation to convey basic facts, schedule, coordinate, resolve problems, and obtain information.
