About The Position

In assistance to the Breeder Supervisor, this role aims to maximize breeder productivity and profit contributions by planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling activities to achieve the least base egg cost, which meets and/or exceeds customer specifications on the assigned breeder farm.

Requirements

  • Must not now, or at any time in the future, require employer sponsorship for a work visa.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Good work history - stability with previous employment or internal position (1 year minimum).
  • Performance results - must have met expectations with previous employer, and/or Jennie-O Turkey Store (internal candidate) in attendance, dependability, performance (quantity and quality), behavior and cooperation.
  • Valid driver’s license with good vehicle operating records.
  • Must be in good physical condition (able to wear eye, respiratory, and any/all safety protection for extended periods of time).
  • Willing to work every other weekend on a 5-day work week schedule.
  • Good math ability to perform farm production and budget record keeping tasks (9th grade level math).
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools to perform minor repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Must possess the ability to work effectively and manage the direct happenings on the farm in the absence of the breeder farm supervisor.
  • Able to do 9th grade level math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, etc).
  • Able to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers and suppliers associated with the department.
  • Able to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Able to write legibly.
  • Able to work 5 days/week.
  • Be available for varied hours/day occasionally.
  • Be available for weekend rotation work.
  • Be available to interchange shifts occasionally due to vacations and/or absences.
  • Frequently work Holidays.
  • Able to read and understand operating manuals and/or company programs and policies.
  • Able to grasp and pinch with both hands occasionally.
  • Able to perform basic mechanical task with hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, etc.
  • Able to work alone frequently.
  • Able to work both indoors and outdoors in varying degrees of temperatures and humidities, which are primarily dependent on seasonal weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 years experience in poultry husbandry with responsibilities and standard performance results (preferably from breeder turkeys).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to expand job knowledge and work toward eventually being a breeder supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize breeder productivity and profit contributions.
  • Achieve least base egg cost that meets and/or exceeds customer specifications.
  • Perform farm production and budget record keeping tasks.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance activities using hand tools.
  • Work effectively and manage the direct happenings on the farm in the absence of the breeder farm supervisor.
  • Wear eye and respiratory equipment on an occasional basis.
  • Shower at work daily.
  • Twist, stoop, and bend body occasionally.
  • Squat occasionally.
  • Lift and carry 26 to 80 live pounds occasionally from floor to waist level.
  • Reach from below shoulder height occasionally to at/above shoulder height while lifting up to and over 50 live pounds.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal and external customers and suppliers associated with the department.
  • Communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and team members.
  • Write legibly.
  • Read and understand operating manuals and/or company programs and policies.
