About The Position

Texas Oncology is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) II to join their team, supporting the Texas Breast Specialists in Grapevine and Irving, Texas. This is a full-time position with Monday-Friday hours (8:30 am - 5:00 pm), requiring no weekends, call, or major holidays. The role involves providing professional nursing care to patients, adhering to national and company standards, and recognizing the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care. The nurse will participate in company-wide quality initiatives and support the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience.
  • Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
  • Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart.
  • Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
  • Interprofessional collaboration.
  • Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
