About The Position

The Breast Imaging Fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in all aspects of modern breast imaging while enjoying individualized mentorship, substantial procedural experience, and an outstanding quality of life. With only one fellowship position each year, fellows receive extensive one-on-one teaching from dedicated breast imaging faculty and gain the confidence and skills needed to thrive in either academic or private practice. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive, well-rounded educational experience with progressive autonomy, preparing graduates to become leaders in breast imaging. Located in the beautiful Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is the academic medical center for Dartmouth Health and the teaching hospital for the Geisel School of Medicine. Requirements

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency prior to fellowship start
  • ABR board eligible or board certified
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in New Hampshire and Vermont
  • Cannot have J-1 waivers, as it requires a 3-year commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Train with nationally recognized breast imagers in a high-volume academic practice.
  • Develop expertise in all aspects of modern breast imaging.
  • Receive extensive one-on-one teaching from dedicated breast imaging faculty.
  • Gain confidence and skills needed to thrive in either academic or private practice.
  • Gain advanced expertise in screening and diagnostic mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), breast ultrasound, and breast MRI.
  • Gain advanced expertise in high-risk screening and risk assessment.
  • Gain advanced expertise in image-guided procedures including ultrasound-guided biopsy, stereotactic biopsy, MRI-guided biopsy, and wire and seed localization procedures.
  • Participate in weekly tumor boards and radiology-pathology conferences.
  • Teach residents and medical students.
  • Present at multidisciplinary conferences.
  • Develop leadership skills within a breast imaging practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Build a strong academic portfolio.
  • Participate in clinical and translational research projects, including breast imaging technology, population health, and breast cancer screening outcomes.
  • Attend the annual Society of Breast Imaging meeting.
