About The Position

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Prepares various breakfast foods for the Hy-Vee Market Grille, including hot and cold foods and available heat-and-eat varieties. The Breakfast Cook is responsible for prepping a variety of ingredients and assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications. This role requires a helpful and customer-focused individual who can work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of variables and limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, count, and record.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Ability to write identifying information.
• Ability to request supplies orally or in writing.
• High school or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
• Prepares various breakfast foods, including hot and cold items.
• Preps a variety of ingredients and assembles dishes according to recipes and specifications.
• Prepares cooking surfaces.
• Prepares vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods.
• Places food in hot cases, monitors amounts, and refills as necessary.
• Prepares items for upcoming shifts.
• Ensures personal understanding of all aspects of the kitchen.
• Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is always clean and neat.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Knowledgeable of all menu items and able to take guest orders.
• Orders product and supplies when necessary or notifies department head of needs.
• Assists in other areas of store as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Benefits

• The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $16.50 to $20.60 depending on experience.
