About The Position

Breakfast Cook in Hy-Vee’s Market Grille department. The role prepares a variety of hot and cold breakfast foods, gets ingredients and cooking surfaces ready, assembles dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications, and helps keep the kitchen operating smoothly throughout service. The position also provides friendly customer service, supports menu orders and product needs, maintains sanitation and an organized work area, and works with the team to support customer satisfaction.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in varied situations with limited standardization.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Where applicable, ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation.
Where applicable, ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards.

Nice To Haves

Six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and create positive customer interactions.
Prepare cooking surfaces and ready the kitchen for service.
Prepare vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods according to restaurant recipes and specifications.
Place food in hot cases, monitor quantities, and refill as needed during the shift.
Prepare items for upcoming shifts to support a smooth transition.
Stay knowledgeable about menu items and take guest orders as needed.
Order products and supplies when necessary, or notify the department head of needs.
Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
