About The Position

This is a hands-on electrical and mechanical role focused on repairing, upgrading, reconditioning, and remanufacturing electrical equipment ranging from individual circuit breakers to complete substation equipment. You will work with stored energy mechanisms, wiring diagrams, electrical components, OEM manuals, and test equipment to bring critical power equipment back to safe and reliable operating condition. If you enjoy troubleshooting, taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and putting them back together the right way, this role should feel like home base with better tools.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems safely
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
  • Ability and willingness to read OEM manuals and technical literature
  • Mechanically inclined with personal tools
  • Ability to travel to some job sites after training
  • Detail oriented, organized, dependable, and able to work well in a team environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management skills with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to work at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy and safety
  • Ability to maintain confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint preferred

Responsibilities

  • Circuit breaker repair and reconditioning
  • Clean electrical parts and components
  • Disassemble circuit breakers for inspection, repair, and reconditioning
  • Remove and reinstall electrical components on circuit breakers with proper documentation
  • Read breaker evaluations and work orders to complete customer requested service
  • Recondition breaker components including auxiliary switches, motors, relays, and coils
  • Confirm electrical parts operate properly before reinstalling them on breakers
  • Electrical troubleshooting and testing
  • Troubleshoot and repair circuit breakers
  • Safely troubleshoot electrical circuits and complete necessary repairs
  • Read schematic, point to point, and one line wiring diagrams
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical wiring
  • Electrically operate circuit breakers from wiring schematics, including charge, close, and trip functions
  • Operate test equipment relevant to the breaker type
  • Work safely on stored energy mechanisms
  • Read OEM manuals and follow detailed instructions for adjusting equipment
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the assigned work area
  • Support onsite and emergency jobs when needed and after proper training
